Situated on the first floor, Elastika debuts as a modern-American restaurant helmed by acclaimed Executive Chef Joe Anthony. Designed to become a destination gathering place and culinary cornerstone of Miami Design District, Elastika will act as the lobby of the neighborhood providing a gastronomic experience in a comfortable, inviting environment. Set to debut this weekend on the building’s first floor, Elastika is helmed by Executive Chef Joe Anthony and draws inspiration from Miami’s international culture and the Moore’s century-long history. The restaurant is named after the Zaha Hadid sculpture “Elastika,” which is suspended in the four-story atrium above the dining room and was originally commissioned for the inaugural Design Miami/ exhibition in 2005. This little bakery is another Buena Vista spot worth knowing about if you're walking around the neighborhood.

A focal point of the restaurant’s art collection is Rob Pruitt’s US (detail), 2013, which is on loan from the collection of the late art collector and champion of Miami’s cultural community, Rosa de la Cruz. Elastika, located beneath its namesake sculpture in The Moore, combines a modern design with the building’s historical features. The interior, a collaboration between WoodHouse and ICRAVE, includes an 18-seat bar, velvet banquettes, a semi-private dining area for up to 12, and a lounge near the original staircase. Furniture throughout the restaurant is from Brazil-based Sossego, using sustainably harvested wood. The art collection, curated by Miami’s Monica Kalpakian, features pieces like Rob Pruitt’s “US (detail), 2013” from Rosa de la Cruz’s collection.

Acne Studios is most famous for its contemporary furniture but in my book, what stands out are its stylish and not-your-same-old accessories – handbags, shoes, and jewelry. This is the brand’s first location in Miami and surely to be more to come. I coveted all the handbags, most in leather and angular designs, and the flirty petal pink heels and mules. Their approach is classic silhouettes but with different prints and fabrics. In the Miami Design District headquarter offices, we will be showing 30 works from my collection by the legendary John Baldessari. Many of them have been loaned to institutions like The Metropolitan Museum, LACMA and Moscow’s Garage, and include works from virtually every phase of Baldessari’s monumental career.
